Understanding Young People from Lower Socio Economic Groups:

This workshop will bring to life new and existing research to help attendees gain a better understanding of some of the issues that influence young people’s lives, and how this can have an impact on their sports participation levels.  This interactive workshop will draw upon experiences in the room, challenging learners to think about the young people they work with, and the wider issues that they face on a day to day basis.

Engaging Inactive Young People:

There are a high number of young people from low income/lower socio-economic groups that are either inactive or not active enough for health (and wider social) benefits. This workshop will offer ideas for how you can attract inactive young people to Doorstep Sport sessions.

Emergency First Aid:

Three hour emergency first aid course covering all aspects of first aid. This is an interactive course in which you will have to practice various different first aid requirements on either yourself or another individual. The course covers everything from cuts and grazes to CPR and defibrillator usage.

Managing Challenging Behaviour:

Participants learn the characteristics of ‘hard to reach’ young people and how to effectively engage with them. They are shown how to recognise the causes and triggers of anti-social behaviour and then explore the development of tools and skills that enable young people to take ownership of their issues and effectively manage challenging behaviour.

Multi Sport Time to Listen:

Time to Listen is a  three hour course for Club/Child Welfare Officers (CWO). Candidates must have attended a Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop previously. This course is written specifically for CWO’s however is good CPD for any coach to support safeguarding arrangement in clubs.

Multi Skills Activator:

StreetGames have developed the Multi-Skills Activator in order to provide volunteers, young people, youth & community workers and community sports coaches and leaders with a multi-skill approach to coaching young people. The workshop will provide a chance to experience games across a range of sporting categories and attendees will combine their existing coaching and leadership skills and experience with the games, adaptations and top tips within the workshop to engage young people. This is an active course and you will be expected to participate in physical activity.
