REFERRALS - RECEIVE A BIKE
WHO CAN GET A BIKE?
Bikes donated to the scheme, once serviced, are rehomed to people who will benefit the most from having a bike to use as a form of transport.
All bikes being rehomed are gifted to people in travel poverty where having a bike will make a significant impact on their daily lives. They might use the bike as a means of transport to get to work or the shops, or it could give them the ability to meet up with others and be involved in the local community, all while having an opportunity to get in a few more active minutes while in the saddle.
We work with partners across the county who are involved in supporting lots of different people in local communities. If you are in need of a bike free of charge through our Wheels For Life programme, please contact one of our partners from the list below. They will have a chat about how a bike will help you, and if appropriate they will refer you to your local hub who will match you with an appropriate bike and accessories. Please note, certain partners only work in specific districts, or with particular groups of people.

FAQ's
We work with people who would benefit from having a bike. Can we become a referral partner?
Absolutely. We want to have a diverse range of referral partners that will allow bikes to be rehomed to a broad range of people across Lincolnshire. If you think the people you work with would benefit from a bike, please contact us (below) and we can give you some more information.
I think I would benefit from a bike through the scheme. Can I get one directly from a hub?
No. Our hubs are all run by volunteers who are focused on refurbishing the bikes and offering opportunities for people to come together on gentle social rides to talk with people in a similar position and practice cycling. If you would like to be considered for a bike, please contact one of the referral agencies above and they can discuss your needs and refer you to receive a bike.
Can I get a bike for my child through the scheme?
The scheme is mainly for adult sized bikes so our partners will only be referring adults. Most bikes we receive have at least a 24" wheel size which is suitable for children 12 and over (depending on height and bike frame size). However, we do get some children's bikes donated, so if you have a child who would also benefit from having a bike when you get yours then please speak to the referral partner when you are talking about your needs so they can make a note on the referral. If we have a suitable bike available at the same time then, of course, we can help them get riding too.
How long will it take for me to receive a bike through the scheme?
Typically, we anticipate a two week turnaround from the referral to receiving your bike. This is an average timeframe and there may be occasions where turnaround will be quicker or slower. All hubs try and keep a range of bikes prepared and ready to rehome, but this is dependent on the sizes, styles and number of bikes that we receive as donations.
