Active Lincolnshire’s CEO Wheelchair Basketball Challenge 2020
Our annual wheelchair basketball challenge is now in its 10th year!
This inclusive and fun workplace challenge gives everyone the opportunity to get active with their peers and experience a sport that creates an equal playing field.
Glen Garrod, Executive Director of Adult Care and Community Wellbeing at Lincolnshire County Council, is an advocator of the annual challenge saying:
“I found wheelchair basketball gave me a massive buzz – it is fast paced, very skilled and challenging. Sitting in a wheelchair and playing a competitive match with people who use wheelchairs because they need to was a great leveller, wonderful for team building, real fun and great exercise. In my book everyone should have a go at least once”
Craig Naylor, Deputy Chief Constable of Lincolnshire Police, took part in a previous challenge said:“As a novice to wheelchair basketball I thoroughly enjoyed my first competitive game. So much to think about and any skill I thought I had at shooting a basket disappeared as soon as I sat in the chair. This was the first time we had come together as a team and Lynn managed to get us working well together through great coaching and instruction as well as appealing to our competitive natures. I am looking forward to the next tournament and hope to continue to play now that I have figured out how to move the chair!”
