Together Fund to support delivery of Good Boost

Together Fund to support delivery of Good Boost

Active Lincolnshire has distributed Together Fund grants to two organisations in Lincolnshire, to deliver the Good Boost Programme supporting residents with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions to be active.

Lincolnshire has a high population of older adults, and (MSK) conditions are the biggest driver of years lived with a disability. There is also a growing population of mothers-to-be who are facing MSK associated pain. Good Boost provides therapeutic, personalised land and water exercise programs for fitness with a focus on specific needs and body part regions that are suitable for people with MSK conditions.

Geoff Moulder Leisure Centre, Boston and Leisure SK have both been awarded £5090 to deliver Good Boost allowing them to support local residents to access a cost effective, condition specific, personalised programme of activity that can be undertaken in facilitated group settings, or individually as part of water or land-based activities. Leisure SK will deliver sessions at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre.

The funding will allow the purchase of the Good Boost license which includes a full suite of water and land based MSK exercises, and tablets for people to use. The tablets are designed to be fully water-proof and useable on poolside. The funding will also cover training to familiarise venue staff with the exercises and how to develop group classes that are sociable when each participant is doing their own programme through their individual tablets.

Individuals will log in using a unique logon and access a tailored programme of exercises to work through. This means that participants can attend a general public swim, or book a studio or badminton court and do the exercises at a time that is convenient for them rather than waiting for a class to attend.

The project will compliment the clinical support provided through the local NHS MSK, physiotherapy and Better Birth Teams.

Active Lincolnshire is distributing the Together Fund in Lincolnshire on behalf of Sport England. The fund exists to help to reduce the negative impact of coronavirus and support community groups and clubs working with our target audiences - whose activity levels have been most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic - to grow and enable more people to be more active.
