The Ever Young Club awarded Together Fund Grant

The Ever Young Club awarded Together Fund Grant

The Ever Young Club, (SPOTS) have been awarded a grant of £3277 from Sport England's Together Fund to enable them to deliver twice-weekly exercise classes in their venue.

Active Lincolnshire is distributing the Together Fund in Lincolnshire on behalf of Sport England. The fund exists to help to reduce the negative impact of coronavirus and support community groups and clubs working with our target audiences - whose activity levels have been most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic - to grow and enable more people to be more active.

The Ever Young Club (SPOTS), based in Spalding, has been offering activities and lunch for over 50s in the local community for the last eight years, although they had to close for eighteen months due to the pandemic. They provide a valuable service for older people in the community who are less able, mostly live alone and come to the group for company and exercise. The group organisers recognised a need to put on more exercise sessions for members.

“ We have seen a need in the group members as they get older and stay with us, they wish to improve their physical activity and also keep their mind active. When doing a monthly evaluation of the club every member mentioned they would like more exercise workshops on offer as after taking part in these as they can feel not only have they physically taken part by keeping their muscles and joints moving, preventing them from falls etc, but they also have a sense of achievement which boosts their moods and energy levels”

The Together Fund grant will enable the organisation to put on twice weekly inclusive exercise classes. It will help cover the cost of instructors as well as allowing them to purchase additional apparatus, such as resistance bands and balls, which will help those with disabilities to be able to move more easily.
