South Kesteven District Council Awarded Funding to support Community Exercise Classes
South Kesteven District Council have been awarded a Together Fund Grant of £3964 to support the delivery of Community Exercise Classes in the district.
The Together Fund, which is being distributed by Active Lincolnshire in the County on behalf of Sport England, aims to help to reduce the negative impact of coronavirus on groups whose activity levels have been most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
This funding will allow SKDC to create a community class targeting those with long term health conditions and/or older adults in a community venue. There is a need for activity classes in the area, due to the closure of the local Deepings leisure facility. The project will provide an opportunity for classes at a local community venue for those who would struggle to travel to other leisure centres in the area, that are based in Stamford and Grantham. Sessions will be tailored to be suitable for those living with long term health conditions.
The funding will be used for hall hire, instructor costs and to purchase start up equipment.
Participants on the Active Mind and Body Wellbeing Sessions will not only benefit from taking part in physical activity, but also from being in a social environment and making new connections, with tea coffee and biscuits available at the end of each session.
