Nominations open for the Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards 2022

As the country celebrates a summer of sport, Active Lincolnshire is delighted to open nominations for the 18th annual Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards.

The 2022 Sport & Physical Activity Awards will be held on 3rd November at the Engine Shed in Lincoln, and we're now inviting nominations for individuals, groups and organisations to be submitted online until midnight on Wednesday 31st August.

The annual awards celebrate the impact physical activity has on people’s lives in the county, as well as providing a chance to recognise individuals, volunteers, sports clubs, schools and communities who actively contribute to the health and wellbeing of Lincolnshire and use physical activity to support positive change.

This year’s awards include several new categories to reflect the refreshed Let’s Move Lincolnshire Strategy. Spearheaded by Active Lincolnshire the vision of the strategy is to make Lincolnshire a place where everyone has the opportunity to be physically active every day, with a focus on tackling inequalities and breaking down barriers to being more active.

The new awards for 2022 include: The Uniting Lincolnshire Award, the Inclusion & Diversity Award, and the Health & Wellbeing Award. These recognise our commitment to ensuring everyone in Lincolnshire has the same access to opportunities to be active and provide an opportunity to showcase projects that are helping those groups of people facing the greatest barriers to participation.

Emma Tatlow, CEO of Active Lincolnshire said:

“We are delighted to launch nominations for the Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards 2022. The awards are an annual celebration of the fantastic work individuals, groups and organisations across the county are doing to support Lincolnshire residents to enjoy the benefits of being active, as well as shining a light on the inspirational personal achievements of people using sport and activity to transform their own lives. The awards are also an opportunity to say thank you to volunteers and staff, who have worked tirelessly to help others to keep active over the past year, as the county continues to recover from the detrimental effects of the pandemic.
At each year’s awards we hear so many fantastic and inspiring stories of individuals, groups and organisations who have gone above and beyond to help keep people in Lincolnshire moving, and we can’t wait to read through the nominations for this year’s awards.”

Andrew Crispin from Long Sutton Cricket Club, winner of last years Active Club Award, commented:

“Winning the award was a fantastic achievement for such a small club as ours, we have very limited resources at the club, but we make up for that with a fantastic bunch of volunteers. Everyone was over the moon when we won, and it has encouraged not only more players to join the club, (juniors & seniors), but more local businesses to get on board with us as well.”
