Nominations open for the 2021 Sport & Physical Activity Awards

Amid a summer of sporting success at the Tokyo Games, Active Lincolnshire opens nominations for the 2021 Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards.

The annual Sport & Physical Activity Awards will be held on Thursday 11th November, and Active Lincolnshire is inviting nominations for individuals, groups and organisations to be submitted online until midnight on Tuesday 31 August.

As we rejoice in TeamGB’s success at Tokyo 2020, you could be mistaken for thinking the Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Awards are a only celebration of the successes of Lincolnshire’s elite athletes.

However, organisers are keen to stress that whilst the awards do recognise the outstanding achievements of Lincolnshire athletes, the Sport & Physical Activity Awards are equally a celebration of the multitude of individuals, volunteers, clubs, schools, and communities, who actively contribute daily to the health and wellbeing of our county and who use physical activity to support positive change.

The Covid-19 pandemic is a reminder of how important it is to protect our health and wellbeing and the inclusion of categories such as the ‘Active Change Award’ aims to recognise and celebrate people from across Lincolnshire who have used sport and physical activity to make a positive change to their lives.

Similarly, the ‘Workplace Wellbeing Award’ recognises those organisations who have gone above and beyond this year, in their quest to encourage and facilitate active working environments, be this at home or in the workplace.

Emma Tatlow, CEO of Active Lincolnshire said:

“The annual awards are an opportunity for everyone to take a moment to celebrate and thank the individuals, groups and organisations who have been innovative in their approach to the delivery of physical activity, healthy lifestyles and wellbeing. During the pandemic we have seen people and communities come together and to continue to support each other through this difficult time. Grass roots clubs and activity providers rely hugely on volunteers, community support and people’s goodwill and during the pandemic we have seen and heard of so many inspiring stories.”
“The annual awards are also an opportunity to say thank you to the selfless and passionate volunteers and staff, who have proactively kept the people of Lincolnshire moving during the past year. We also look forward to celebrating excellence in competition and personal achievements.”

There are 10 categories in the 2021 Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards, 9 of which are open for public nomination. To nominate an individual, yourself, a club or an organisation for an award please click here.

Active Lincolnshire is also inviting organisations who would like to showcase their commitment to health and wellbeing to sponsor an award category. If you are interested in finding our more, the sponsorship pack is available here.
