Funded Projects

CLIP awarded Together Fund grant to support low impact exercise sessions

CLIP awarded Together Fund grant to support low impact exercise sessions

Active Lincolnshire has distributed a Together Fund grant of £4976 to Community Learning in Partnership (CLIP) CIC. The funding will support CLIP to deliver weekly sessions of chair-based movement to music and yoga. The sessions, which will be held in Mablethorpe, Market Rasen and Gainsborough, are targeted at older adults and people with mobility issues or balance issues. The sessions will meet the needs of those who find it difficult to be active as they are unable to work-out on the floor and / or are not in a state of readiness to use other fitness equipment.

Active Lincolnshire is distributing the Together Fund in Lincolnshire on behalf of Sport England. The fund exists to help to reduce the negative impact of coronavirus and support community groups and clubs working with our target audiences, whose activity levels have been most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, which includes people with long term health conditions and / or disabilities.

CLIP has been in operation since 1995, with the clear goal of widening participation in learning by people from rural, coastal and isolated communities. They work across a wide group of people within the community from 16+ years. They provide training and support for personal development, health & well-being, higher education and work skills. CLIP is also committed to supporting people who have experienced mental health difficulties. CLIP have identified a need from the clients they work with for low impact exercise sessions:

"Feedback from our clients and members of the local community is that there aren't suitable activities for them and their conditions. Pre-covid we had delivered some seated and yoga-based exercise sessions through GOGA that were aimed at people with a disability and long-term health conditions which were well received and led to participants gaining confidence. These new sessions will create that community activity again that has been missing since covid. "

The project will run as a 6-week course, with each 1 hour session gently building up the participant’s activity levels. Group sizes will be kept small, making the activity less daunting to participants and allowing the instructor to make sure each person is working at the right intensity level for them. The friendly sessions will allow participants to meet like-minded people and experience the benefits to wellbeing of making new connections alongside benefits to their health.
