Bourne Rugby Club awarded Together Fund Grant
Bourne Rugby Club have been awarded a £4500 grant from Sport England’s Together Fund. The funding will help to ensure their rapidly growing club have the volunteer workforce needed to meet the growing demand from local young people.
The club are amongst the first Lincolnshire organisations to receive Together Funding, which Active Lincolnshire are distributing in Lincolnshire on behalf of Sport England. The Together Fund exists to help to reduce the negative impact of coronavirus and support community groups working with our target audiences to grow and enable more people to be more active.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic Bourne Rugby Club had over 100 children playing rugby each weekend. Covid lockdowns decimated the Mini & Junior section and after lockdown the club started back with only 6 players. The club is now growing rapidly, and the Together Funding will help to increase the number of registered players.
The club will use the funding to support coaches to gain RFU England Rugby Coaching Awards and provide them with kit needed. This will allow the club to grow their capacity to support more children, whilst helping to keep their membership fees low and ensuring the club is open to all children in the area, including those from low income families.
