Being active during pregnancy and beyond in Lincolnshire
Donna Sutton, Active Lincolnshire Project Lead, gives an update on our Pre & Postnatal Physical Activity Network, and our recent session with Dr Marlize De Vivo; co-CEO and founder of the Active Pregnancy Foundation.
The month of December has started with a bang with 28 of our Lincolnshire healthcare and physical activity professionals tuning in to an online session to hear from Dr Marlize De Vivo; co-CEO and founder of the Active Pregnancy Foundation and industry expert in pre and postnatal physical activity. Dr Marlize delivered a jam-packed session exploring language, busting myths around being physically active during and post pregnancy as well as breaking down and simplifying the CMO guidelines that are designed to enable professionals to support women to remain or become active during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
The session was insightful, powerful and motivating and it was incredible to see engagement from such a wide range of stakeholders from across the county with additional commitment to continue to learn and develop in this area of work moving forward.
In October we launched the county's Pre & Postnatal Physical Activity Network comprising of partners delivering activities for pre and postnatal women, or those with an interest or passion to develop opportunities for families across Lincolnshire. We are always looking to grow this network further in the hope to develop provision in all corners of the county; so If you have a passion for women’s health and wish to advocate the important role physical activity plays for women during preconception, pregnancy and the postnatal period then we would love to hear from you and get you involved in this work.
