Active Skills Hub set to support the Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Sector

Active Skills Hub set to support the Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Sector

Active Lincolnshire is proud to announce the launch of the Active Skills Hub, a new online platform supporting people who work or volunteer in the physical activity sector in our county to develop their skills and careers.

The Active Skills Hub provides a wealth of resources and training opportunities for those working, or looking to work in the sport and physical activity sector; from aspiring volunteers to experienced professionals.

At the heart of the Active Skills Hub is the Active Skills Training Portal, developed in partnership with UK Coaching. Through their innovative learning infrastructure and dedicated Partner Platform, the Active Skills Learning Portal will deliver a flexible mix of formal and informal learning opportunities. Courses available include fundamental topics such as Safeguarding, Mental Health for Sport and Physical Activity and Inclusive Activity Programming. This training platform enables coaches, fitness professionals and others working and volunteering in the sector, or hoping to do so, to engage in tailored learning that supports them in their role.

The Active Skills Hub has been created as part of the Active Communities Initiative funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UK SPF) for South East Lincolnshire. Initially the learning portal will exclusively support individuals from East Lindsey and South Holland who have successfully applied for Active Skills Funding. In early 2025 it will be opened so people from across Lincolnshire can access the training.

This new digital platform aligns with Active Lincolnshire’s goal of fostering a diverse and skilled workforce that reflects the communities it serves. By equipping local people with the tools to deliver safe, engaging, and inclusive physical activity programs, the Active Skills Hub will strengthen the sport and physical activity sector while promoting healthier lifestyles across Lincolnshire.

Alongside the training portal, the Active Skills Hub currently offers a Resource section showcasing a growing range of useful resources, as well as sharing the stories of people working in our sector. A Careers Guide and Jobs board, both launching in 2025, will further connect individuals with employment opportunities, and offer pathways for both personal and professional growth.

Laura Spurr, Skills Manager at Active Lincolnshire, shared her enthusiasm for the new platform:

We are delighted to launch the Active Skills Hub, a continuously evolving resource designed to meet the needs of the physical activity sector in Lincolnshire. This platform will empower individuals to enter and advance within the sector. Our vision is to establish the Active Skills Hub as the go-to destination for skills development, career guidance, job opportunities and industry insights such as relevant news stories and funding opportunities. A stronger, more resilient workforce will help deliver more inclusive and accessible physical activity opportunities, ultimately benefiting the health and wellbeing of our communities.

Applications for the Active Lincolnshire Skills Fund are still open for individuals living or working in East Lindsey and South Holland, providing additional support to access valuable learning opportunities. Find out more and apply to the Skills Fund.
