Active Lincolnshire are seeking change makers to join our ambitious team

At Active Lincolnshire we’re moving on our approach to enable better lives for local people through physical activity.

This means we’re building on the great work we do with a refreshed business plan, organisational structure and thinking which embraces our vision to transform Lincolnshire into a place where every person has the opportunity to be physically active every single day.

Our ambitions are big so we’re looking for more bright stars to come and be a part of our great team.

We’ve created two new leadership roles to help shape and drive the change we want to be and see. We know we want leaders who are passionate about improving the lives of others. Individuals who can help build an agile organisation capable of adapting to the evolving landscape of place-based work. People who can think local and influence countywide. The background, lived experience and expertise that person brings is down to you.

The roles are:

Director of Strategy and Place – you will lead and mobilise the Let’s Move Lincolnshire shared strategy for physical activity, you will lead and develop our approach to place based working and you’ll develop our approach to data insight and learning. The role requires connecting enabling and influencing partners to create the conditions for change.

The Director of Business Operations and Engagement will lead our stakeholder stewardship, strategic engagement, have oversight of business performance and growth, bringing together our core business functions.

The roles will work alongside our Director of Development and support a small, highly skilled team.

Read the job descriptions to further understand who and what we are looking for, and get in touch if you are interested in knowing more. If you want to be a part of the change that we’re making but don’t necessarily meet all the skills we’ve identified, we’d still love to talk to you. We’re all about different perspectives, listening and learning together.

Anyone joining the Active Lincolnshire team will demonstrably uphold our values of integrity, collaboration, inclusivity, innovation and learning and our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and tackling inequalities. How we behave and our ways of working are important to success and the post holder will need to be committed to being a team player, having empathy, a growth mindset and understanding other perspectives through a passion for equality, diversity and inclusion.

Working with Active Lincolnshire

We’re a small charity and operate as a professional organisation. We have big ambitions and our work can take us in many directions. We aim to be focussed and be clear about where we can make a difference. Our team environment is friendly, open and supportive. Like most organisations, we are funding a way around a hybrid working approach, but like to ensure we come together each week in person in our Lincoln office. We are continually committed to developing our organisation culture, and that takes commitment from everyone. Each year we undertake a full staff survey, here are some of the headlines from the 2024 survey:

  • 91% agreed ‘we have core values that I understand and underpin everything I do’
  • 91% agreed ‘my organisation prioritises individual and shared learning’
  • 91% agreed ‘my wellbeing matters to my organisation’
  • 91% agreed ‘I am happy with the benefits my organisation provides’

We’re also honest about what and where we can improve and are currently looking at volunteering opportunities, more flexible working and our apprach to succession planning and career development. As a small organisation there are not always opportunities to move into more senior roles, however the connections you make through the work with Active Lincolnshire, our ways or working and our understanding of the sector, people and place provide great opportunities for development into other roles which may be with an external / partner organisation.

Inclusive application process

We operate an inclusive, equitable and transparent recruitment and assessment process, underpinned by an organisational commitment to equality and diversity. We actively encourage applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds who can bring an array of skills and experience to our organisation. We’re committed to making sure every applicant is assessed solely on merit and relevant experience to do the job.

As an employer, we actively seek to ensure that our workforce reflects the communities we serve, recognising that this makes us better able to understand their needs and priorities. We can only do this by ensuring that the people who work for us are the best they can be irrespective of age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, disability, marital status, religion or belief.

We encourage applications from people with disabilities, and guarantee interviews for applicants with disabilities that meet the requirement of the role as part of our commitment as we work towards the Disability Confident Scheme.
