New Skills Fund Launched
Empowering Communities Through Physical Activity
We're excited to launch a new skills fund which will allow individuals in the East Lindsey or South Holland areas of Lincolnshire to access learning opportunities to enhance their skills in the sport and physical sector.
The skills fund is part of the Active Communities Initiative funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UK SPF) for South East Lincolnshire. As part of this people and skills-focused project, we are collaborating with local partners to identify skills gaps and fund relevant qualifications, to help develop a workforce that reflects the diversity of our communities and is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver engaging and accessible physical activity programmes.
The primary goals of the project include:
- Upskilling local people to work in a diverse variety of roles, paid and voluntary, in the sport and physical activity sector
- Connecting people with employment opportunities in the sector
- Providing support for individuals facing barriers to working within the sector
- Supporting development of a workforce that represents the demographics of our community
Laura Spurr, Skills Manager at Active Lincolnshire commented:
"By combining skills development with employment opportunities, we aim to create a sustainable and thriving sport and physical activity sector in East Lindsey and South Holland. We hope that this in turn will lead to increased opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities in these districts to take part in appropriate physical activity. We are encouraging a wide range of people to apply for the funding and participate in our skills programme, from volunteers who want to know how best to support the people they are working with to those taking their first steps towards a career in sport and physical activity, and people already working in sector who want to enhance their skills further."
The Active Lincolnshire Skills project is now open for applications - more information and an application form can be found here.
