Summer break ideas for parents

For parents and students this six week summer holiday is unlike any from previous years, instead of a long awaited break from school it may feel like just a continuation of the Corona Virus lockdown, school days a long distant memory.

In order to inject some fun and make the days before school returns memorable Active Lincolnshire wants to encourage children (and parents) to get active!

Doing activities that get the heart pumping, limbs moving and cheeks rosy has huge health benefits for everyone. Not only can it reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and lower cholesterol, it produces endorphins and kills boredom- meaning happier, healthier and occupied children!

The One Network has produced a fantastic resource: My Active Summer Log. This is available to download here and it gives children (and parents) a target to get moving every day, ideally for 60 mins (but you can break this up if needed).

Alongside this we have some great ideas for you to do just that, these are diverse, suit all activity levels and interests and most importantly, are fun.

If you need more incentive there is also the chance to win family passes to Lincoln Water Park or Altitude 44 in Skegness. altitude 44 imageLincoln Water Park logo (White)altitude 44 logo

These are great days out for families to bond, laugh and get the whole family outdoors.

In order to be eligible for these great prizes simply download the Log and share your active adventures with us by tagging us @ActiveLincs (on Facebook and twitter) or alternatively email us at communications@activelincolnshire.com and help to inspire other Lincolnshire families to get active this summer.
