As part of the build up the Lincolnshire PE & School Sport Conference on the 24th March 2017. Active Lincolnshire will be previewing the speakers and workshop providers to give you an insight into the event.

stream_imgThis week we will be looking at the incredible story of Ben Smith, founder and runner of the The 401 Challenge, which uses sport to overcome bullying.

Ben was a victim of bullying within school from an early age which eventually led to him to trying to take his own life at the age of just 18. Recently Ben has successfully completed a world record 401 marathons in 401 days for his chosen charities ‘Stonewall’ and ‘Kidscape’.

He aims to use his success to raise awareness of the issues of bullying in our society and inspire teachers and staff to use sport as a medium to drive positive change and alter attitudes towards bullying.

At the conference Ben will speak about his story and how sport helped him overcome his negative school experience. His journey will look to inspire teachers to make sure pupils do not suffer the same way he did and to reaffirm the importance physical activity plays in health and well-being of children and young people.
