Cycling in Lincolnshire
Why cycle
Riding a bike is great exercise, as well as an environmentally friendly way to travel. In Lincolnshire we are fortunate to have many cycle routes across the district, taking in historic towns, picturesque villages and scenic countryside. Active travel is a great way to fit exercise into your day, whether you’re cycling to work, biking with the kids to school, or nipping out to the local shops.

Cycling Clubs and Organised Rides
If you enjoy cycling and want the support and encouragement of others, then you might want to consider joining a cycling club. As well as meeting new people and enjoying the social side of group rides, cycling with others will help you develop your skills. From gentle social rides, to competitions, clubs offer a wide range of cycling activities.

Doddington Cycle Club
Doddington Cycle Club is a friendly, social orientated club based at the Giant Store in Lincoln. The club cater for all abilities of cyclists, from those on all day epic rides to those just riding to the cafe, as well as for all disciplines of cycling. Lincoln Wheelers
Lincoln Wheelers provides, social, recreational and competitive activity with a high regard for well-being and safety. The club has members of all ages and membership is open to anyone wishing to join. Under 16’s are directed to the Go-Ride section of the club. The club is affiliated to a number of national cycling organisations: CTT (Cycling Time Trials), BC (British Cycling) , CTC and BCCA (British Cyclo Cross Association)

Michaelgate
A British Cycling affiliated club founded by a group of keen cycling friends in Lincoln. Friendly and enthusiastic, Michaelgate cycling club are an enthusiastic and relaxed group who meet up at least weekly on a Sunday morning for a ride and a coffee. The main objective is to enjoy riding and encourage others to do the same.

Skellycycle
A social cycling group set up to encourage more people to cycle on a regular basis with their family and friends and to meet new people in a friendly atmosphere. Group riding can help you learn from other people’s experiences and improve your cycling skills. Rides are generally on quiet or traffic free routes and always at a pace to suit the participants.

Walking in Lincolnshire
Why Walk?
Walking is one of the easiest, and cheapest ways to become more active. It doesn’t require any special equipment, or a high level of physical fitness from participants. Walking improves fitness, cardiac health, alleviates depression and fatigue, improves mood and reduces pain, it can also prevent weight gain, reduce risk for cancer and chronic disease, improve endurance, circulation, and posture.
