Active Travel

Reduce your environmental impact by walking or wheeling to travel and encourage others to do the same.

Using cycling, scooting, wheeling or walking for shorter journeys can make a big impact on helping to reduce air pollution in your local area. And, by leaving the car at home, you'll also be reducing your carbon footprint. Active travel also has great health benefits, helping you to achieve the recommended levels physical activity, as well as being beneficial for mental wellbeing.

Find links below to resources to support you with active travel for commuting or everyday journeys, and to help encourage others at your workplace, club or organisation to use environmentally friendly ways of travelling.

  • Lincolnshire's Bike Donation scheme

Wheels for Life - Lincolnshire's Bike Donation Scheme

Wheels for Life is county-wide bike recycling programme that takes in pre-loved bikes and brings them back to a usable condition, before distributing them to people who do not have the opportunity to enjoy the varied benefits of owning and using a bike.

Recycling bikes through this scheme helps the environment by reducing waste, whilst also promoting and increasing the ability of people to undertake active travel.

Active Lincolnshire are working with partners to take in donated bikes, partners who can refurbish them, as well as those who can assist us with referrals to give the bikes new homes and any other organisations or individuals in a position to back the project to ensure its long term sustainability.
