Environmental Sustainability
From understanding your impact and setting targets, to reducing waste and picking responsible partners and suppliers there are lots of ways you can become more environmentally sustainable.
Active Lincolnshire is committed to inspiring and supporting the sport and physical activity sector in the county to become environmentally sustainable. Sport clubs, leisure facilities and physical activity providers have multiple impacts on the environment, from energy consumption and travel to sports equipment and waste created.

Why does Environmental Sustainability matter?
We are in a climate emergency and a time where human behaviour is determining the environment around us. We are in urgent need to reduce emissions by 2030 in order to try to keep global warming under 1.5 -2 degrees. We are also in a biodiversity crisis - since 1970 UK species have declined by 19% and nearly 1 in 5 species are threatened with extinction.
Sport and activity venues, events and people's ability to be active are being affected by climate change and extreme weather. By 2050 it is estimated that 1 in 3 British Golf courses will be damaged by rising sea levels, and 23 out of the 92 English Football League grounds can expect annual flooding. Both national and grassroots events and venues are being affected.
We've gathered together guidance, resources and signposting to support to help you to take positive environmental action. From sports kit recycling schemes and litter-picking groups, to planting trees and reducing energy use. Take a look below.
