The award recognises clubs that have broken the mould and done some differently to create new opportunities or get a more diverse group of people involved.
Our Finalists
Boston Bluetits
The Boston Bluetits is an open water swimming group founded by Nicola Housam and Fran Mills, and is as part of the wider Bluetits community run by volunteers. With over 1,100 members, the group offers multiple swims daily, including moon swims, family swims, inflatable swims, and sea swims throughout the year.
The Bluetits welcomes everyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, or size, fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and promotes equality. The swims are always free, with optional summer and winter challenges available for swimmers of all levels. The group creates a non-judgmental, supportive space where every person is valued equally, focusing on building a compassionate and accepting community. Through their swims, they promote social inclusion and the strengthening of friendships within the local area.
The Boston Bluetits aim to build a confident, capable community through cold water swimming, encouraging members to push their limits and experience the physical and mental rewards of this activity together.

Quest also runs extra training during school holidays, ensuring members stay engaged throughout the year. Quest fosters a sense of belonging through community events, school demonstrations, and social activities, making everyone feel included. The positive environment allows members to build friendships and develop life-long values such as teamwork, respect, and perseverance.
Walk & Brekkie Club
Arianne Davey set up Walk & Brekkie Club in September 2023 to support women to get outdoors, be active and make new friendships. Arianne wanted to create a community for women in their 20s and 30s, as she found there weren't a lot of options available for this age group that weren't sports or running clubs. The group meet every Sunday morning, go for a walk in and around Lincoln and then head for breakfast afterwards. The club has created a welcoming community which promotes wellbeing, encouraging young women to exercise, get outdoors and to talk to others in a comfortable environment with no pressures. The club currently has a facebook membership of over 400 members.
As well as the usual walks, the club organise other social activity, which has included longer hikes and Pilates.
