Supporting Lincolnshire's sport & physical activity workforce
We have collated some ideas and inspiration to help you design your involvement with the Join in the Movement 2022 campaign.
There are many ways in which you and your organisation, school, club, and community can get involved and Join in the Movement. From hosting your own sports games to volunteering and becoming a community champion, here are a few ideas to support this countywide campaign.
Host taster session/s for your sport or activity or one of the Commonwealth Games 2022 sports. Here’s a list to give you some inspiration.
Promote your leisure facility and sports clubs by showcasing your sport in local towns and villages, invite residents to come along for free; provide activities in community spaces. Link up with your local council/town or parish council to explore ideas.
Invite one of Lincolnshire’s Commonwealth Champions (past or present) to visit your club or venue and take part in your activity or give a talk about their Commonwealth experience.
Get your school and students inspired by Commonwealth 2022 by incorporating engagement and learning opportunities.
Add in a touch of Commonwealth into your school assembly schedule throughout 2022. Students can learn about what the Commonwealth is, the sports and activities involved, and explore the countries involved.
A set of Commonwealth Games inspired PE lessons, have a go at one of the 26 sports to try out something new with your students.
Incorporate the learning of Commonwealth into a history lesson, learn to say 'hello' in each language and get creative with a collaborative arts lesson, or explore different music from around the world.
Could your school cook up a tasty and healthy recipe from the Commonwealth?
To document your school students' Commonwealth learning journey, create a passport for them to collect stamps on, learning about each country’s culture and traditions.
You could even leave space for them to collect additional external stamps as they visit and participate in other Join in the Movement activities from our partners across the county.
Partner up with another community group and host an evening for your local communities to help inclusively bring everyone together across the county.
Your event could be themed on food from around the world, music and dance, literature, culture, or, of course, sport and physical activity.
Involve your workplace and team members in the Let’s Move with Commonwealth 2022 campaign:
Sponsoring opportunities to fund charities and community groups taking part in the campaign.
Take your team to one of the Let’s Move with Commonwealth 2022 events hosted by community groups and cultural organisations for a team-building day. Maybe you could volunteer at one of the community groups events?
Could you team up with other companies across Lincolnshire and go head-to-head competing for that “Commonwealth Games” trophy?
Support your staff in taking time out to volunteer in their local community.
Research and connect with a business from one of the 56 Commonwealth countries.
An opportunity for heritage, cultural and arts organisations to connect with and form a partnership with sports and physical activity clubs from across Lincolnshire.
Exhibit and showcase any Commonwealth culture within your heritage or cultural venue. Invite Lincolnshire’s Commonwealth Champions to talk or other members of the Commonwealth community to showcase their culture.
Showcasing food, drink, music, dance, sport and heritage from around the world at a cultural festival. Inviting a true representation of Lincolnshire’s diverse culture to be showcased at the event and celebrate your inclusive and accessible festival with the community and visitors.
The commonwealth campaign could provide a great opportunity for you to animate the streets and public spaces, and provide entertainment and engagement opportunities throughout your place.
'Have a go' activities
Bring temporary have a go sports into your town or village (such as skateboard ramps, climbing wall etc.)
Host a health walk
Introduce health walks, social walks or walking events to your event programme social walks. You may already have an existing trail or could develop a new heritage trail that tells the local connections to Commonwealth.
Theme your upcoming events
Theme your events programme around the Commonwealth - we'll be sharing the 'Let's Move with Commonwealth' branding soon which you can use to link your events to the campaign.
Flash mob dancing
Host a flash mob dance show to get everyone moving on your high street and add to your visitors' experience.
Use your Green Spaces
Consider how you can use your green spaces for people to get active:
Whether you’re looking for volunteers or wanting to be one. We invite clubs, groups, and organisations to share their volunteering opportunities and host a taster session at any campaign events hosted.
We’ll post up any opportunities to volunteer on the campaign website too.
