Active Lincolnshire, like our partners, recognise the imperative role that volunteers play to make sport happen across the county
Without the time, energy and commitment given by assistants, coaches, officials, parents, captains, helpers, volunteers; many sporting events clubs, team sport sessions and coaching sessions would not be able to run. At the 2014 Hockey World Cup, 1183 volunteers were out in force, they ranged in age from 16 to nearly 80!
Volunteers play a huge role in sport and physical activity, without them clubs, teams and sessions across Lincolnshire would not happen. Within this section you will find information on how you can get involved in a variety of ways to get Lincolnshire Active
There is also information on the IMPACT inclusive volunteering project, running throughout 2016.
3 ways that Volunteers Help to get Lincolnshire Active
- LEAD – people who lead activity, training or competition e.g. referees, time keepers or coaches.
- SUPPORT – people who support others to be physically active e.g. encouraging your friend to try a new sport or activity.
- HELP – people who help within clubs, events and groups e.g. fundraising, ground maintenance or photography
IMPACT inclusive volunteering project
Getting more disabled people volunteering in sport
Lincolnshire Sport are working with local clubs and organisations in order to try and get more disabled people volunteering in sport. The one-year project will see local clubs and organisations receive free training to help create a welcoming environment for volunteers to help address the imbalance of the number of disabled sports volunteers compared to non-disabled.
Inclusive Volunteer Month
A volunteer recruitment campaign is set to take place within ‘Inclusive Volunteer Month’ in June to encourage disabled people to volunteer as well as providing training opportunities for the clubs who the volunteers will be deployed to.
Within the month, Lincolnshire Sport will work with local voluntary services and other partners to encourage disabled people to sign up to the project and start their journey as a sports volunteer.
