Active Lincolnshire recently organised a This Girl Can inspired competition alongside the Priory Academy LSST in Lincoln. Students were challenged to create the best media project, be that video, photograph or artwork that was inspired by Sport England’s national campaign to get more women and girls active.
Entries were received from pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 and Active Lincolnshire had the pleasure of visiting the school to pick the overall competition winner.
Year 8 students, Emily Moore, Joanna Moomba, Heather Addo-Smith, Aleena James and Gillian Campomanes-Addo were eventually chosen as the winners and their winning entry can be seen below along with the two runner up entries from the Year 7 and 9 students.
The winning entry has been shared nationally with the County Sports Partnership Network and Sport England and will be shown to delegates at the National CSPN Conference on 18th March.
Active Lincolnshire would like to support other schools across the county to run their own This Girl Can competitions.
Marc Rhodes, Marketing and Events Officer at Active Lincolnshire said: “This Girl Can is sending out a really important message to young people across the whole country about women and girls’ involvement in sport, and breaking down some of the traditional barriers to female participation. We hope that other schools in Lincolnshire will run their own competitions and help to inspire their pupils to get involved and be creative through combining sport, art and technology. All the entries to the competition were fantastic and we want to thank the students for their efforts and for being inspired by the campaign”.
