October Blog:

In the Cromer Tournament, which I did in the second week of the summer  holidays I played well in the two single events. in the 18’s I reached the quarter finals, and then in the 16’s, reached the semi finals. I did better than I was supposed to, beating the 3rd seed in the 16s and in 18s the beating the 8th. In the semi’s of the 16 I had a very close match against the second seed, who eventually won the tournament! In the 18’s I lost to the first seed, but I played very well, he went on to win the 18’s and the men’s.

In the Grantham open I did well in the under 18’s, reaching the quarter finals, then losing to the second seed 6-4 6-4! In the 16’s I had a bad performance and lost in the second  round. However in the under 18 boys doubles I reached the final with Ryan Palmer from Leicestershire, but then losing 7-6 7-6 in a very close match against Henry and Dom Beesley.

In this year’s county closed I reached the semi finals of the under 16’s ,losing to the second seed .In the 18’s doubles my partner and I who I have played with several times won the event, having been the second seeds we won in three sets, both playing very well.

I did a core stability course and I found it very helpful and will being using the techniques again in the future.

August Blog:

In the last three months, I have done one major tournament, Cambridgeshire Easter open. In this event I got through to the semi finals and then lost to the eventual winner! Other than that I haven’t done any other tournaments but I have done AEGON for Grantham men’s and under 16 team. All together I have done four of these and only lost one but I also have played a few mixed team matches and men’s team matches.

In the next three months I have three tournaments planned: West Bridgford, Cromer (which is a grass court tournament) and Grantham Open. In these competitions I hope to do very well! My prior training has slowed down this last month or so due to exams, but after they are all finished I’m aiming to play at least 8-10 hours a week and 2-3 hours in the gym trying to improve my cardiovascular endurance ready for these competitions.

On the 29th of May I attended one of the sessions, self motivation. I thought this was very beneficial and I will use these techniques for future tournaments.

March Blog:

Over the last three months I have not competed in as many tournaments as I have wanted to. This has been due to my parents taking over a business and not having time to ferry me around. This has made it impossible for me to play competitions outside Grantham. However, I have competed in the under 18 county cup in Taunton (the squad was taken in a mini bus). I have also competed in 6.1-6.2 r match play event at Loughborough University. In the under 18 county cup I struggled against older and stronger opponents but I was pleased with my overall performance. The County coach was pleased with how I performed in the singles and doubles. In the 6.1-6.2 match play; I played very well and won both of my matches. This will result in my rating going from a 6.2 to 6.1. This will enable me to enter the main draw of Grade 3 tournaments instead of having to enter qualifiers.

I have two tournaments booked, one in Cambridge and another in Cromer, the Cambridge I am doing only under 16’s because I have only just moved up from under 14’s.The tournament is taking place in the second week of the Easter holidays for this I have improved my diet, played a lot more tennis and doing a athlete’s workout (Insanity) which is very challenging and pushes you to the edge. The other tournament, Cromer which is in Norfolk starts at the end of July to the beginning of august; the whole tournament is on grass.

For the next tournament I shall provide you some pictures.
