Active Lincolnshire have today (Monday 21 August) announced the shortlist for the annual Lincolnshire Sports Awards taking place at the Showground on 2 November 2017.
Lynsey Norris from Active Lincolnshire who oversaw the shortlisting said: “Our independent panel spent a lot of time debating the shortlist; such was the quality of the nominations. Every year, we are surprised by the effort and commitment that takes place, often behind the scenes, by so many volunteers across so many different activities. Without this army of supporters, the clubs, the sports and the variety of activities wouldn’t thrive in the way that they do across the whole of the county. This’s why the Sports Awards are so special.”
Jeanette Dawson OBE, Principal of Bishop Burton College (part of Riseholme College) said: “We are delighted to once again be the main sponsor of the awards. The first awards ceremony in 2016 was a truly wonderful occasion, recognising the tremendous efforts and sporting achievements of people from all backgrounds and abilities across Lincolnshire.
“This year promises to be even better, with an outstanding array of nominations highlighting the many positive ways sport can impact on people’s lives – whether it is through improving people’s physical health and well-being, providing a sense of purpose or enhancing someone’s social life. You do not have to be an elite athlete to benefit from sport.”
There are 17 categories and the winners will be announced on the evening of the Sports Awards on 2 November at the Showground. Tickets will be on sale on Friday 25 August.
