Active Lincolnshire - Activities 4 AlActive Lincolnshire will be hosting a disability sports and activity day in Lincoln on Sunday 4th October, called Activities 4 All.

Families across Lincolnshire are being encouraged to attend the sports day, which will have over 40 sports, activities and information stands on offer.

Activities 4 All, which is sponsored by Evans Halshaw and Lincoln College, is an inclusive event where a collection of clubs, activities and organisations come together to provide taster sessions for people with disabilities, sensory impairments and those living with long term conditions.

It is estimated that there are nearly one million people with some form of disability in the UK, and 145,000 people with a disability living in Lincolnshire.

Ian Brown, Equality and Diversity Manager at Active Lincolnshire, said: “We believe that equality of opportunity is at the heart of all sport and physical activity provision within the county. Sport should be accessible to all sections of the community and our aim is to ensure everyone has the opportunity to take part in sport and physical activity.”

“There is compelling evidence that participation in sport has a positive influence on people with disabilities. This includes enhancing day-to-day moods, reducing the impact of stress and enhancing self-esteem. Any family who has a relative with a disability is welcome to attend and see what is on offer to them.”

Active Lincolnshire work closely with a number of key partners to improve and increase opportunities for people with disabilities and to provide memorable experiences of sport and physical activity.

The event is taking place at Deans Sport and Leisure, Lincoln College from 10am til 3pm.
