Lottery funding comes from Sport England to each county from 2011 until 2017 to the Sportivate programme to help encourage ‘semi-sporty’ teenagers aged 11 – 25 to take part in six-weeks of sport sessions.
Lucy Blakey, Children and Young People Officer at Active Lincolnshire, said: “Sportivate not only provides a great opportunity to encourage young people to get involved in sport; it provides a huge financial incentive for sports clubs, schools, leisure facilities and others, to deliver more sport across Lincolnshire. It is great to see so many different projects receiving funding to encourage young people to take part in sport”.
The funding will be allocated to a variety of sports projects to run sessions for young people for a little or no cost to give them the opportunity to try a new sport in their area. Sports on offer include, Equestrian, Rowing, Tae Kwon Do, Squash, Basketball and Target Shooting.
