Sainsbury School Games - Lincolnshire Winter Festival.Sport England, sports coach UK and a host of national partners have been working together towards the continued development and improvement of support available to Primary School’s for their provision of sport.

Today, Sport England have released a suite of four brand new videos aimed at helping schools to improve their sporting offer to pupils and demonstrating how PE and Sport can be used as a tool for whole school improvement.

The Government, through the Department for Education are investing over £150m per year direct to Primary Schools in the form of the Primary PE and Sport Premium fund.

Sport England and their partners, including Active Lincolnshire, are working with the Government to support the Primary PE and Sport Premium fund and have collectively developed the following vision for PE and School Sport:

“A measurable and sustained improvement in school PE and sport, underpinned by high-quality teaching that increases participation levels in physical activity, and leads to healthier pupils who are more engaged across the whole curriculum.”

Meanwhile sports coach UK have teamed up with Sport England to improve their Coaching in Schools Portal, an online tool offering support and guidance to Primary School PE departments on all aspects of the subject. The Portal is a free to access resource for schools identifying a need for coaching through the Primary PE and Sport Premium.  With just a couple of clicks, Head Teachers and PE Leads can find all the information they require to effectively and sustainably recruit and deploy a coach in their school.

In order to support primary schools, County Sports Partnerships (CSP) across England have a role to play in advocating, supporting and sign-posting schools in making best use of their premium funding.

Active Lincolnshire are working with partners at a local level, including the School Sports Partnerships of Lincolnshire, Ofsted, Youth Sport Trust, afPE & sports coach UK to organise their first ever Lincolnshire PE & School Sport Conference which is due to take place at Bishop Grosseteste University on Tuesday 9th June. The event will offer expert support and guidance on subjects such as coach deployment, funding advice, demonstrating impact, best practice and delivering high quality PE sessions.
