Positive Futures in Lincolnshire has been awarded over £400 in Sportivate funding to help encourage more young people to play Tennis in Grantham.

The Sportivate programme, which is delivered through Active Lincolnshires Partnership, is a lottery funded project aimed at encouraging 11 – 25 year olds to try sport in their local community for 6 – 8 weeks.

Positive Futures were awarded £424 to run free tennis sessions for young people, which will take place every Thursday for six weeks from October 3, 2013 at Grantham Tennis Club, Gonerby Road.

Lucy Blakey, Children and Young People Officer at Active Lincolnshires Partnership, said:

“This Sportivate project will encourage young people in Grantham to be active and achieve their potential by taking part in Tennis at their local club. Long may these sessions continue after the initial Sportivate funding.”

“The project is set to cater for semi sporty young people who have been inspired by this year’s Wimbledon success and have expressed an interest in participating in tennis.”
