Families looking for a great day out during the summer holidays are being encouraged to attend a Family Fun Day at North Kesteven Centre on Saturday, August 17.
The fun day, which takes place from 10am – 3pm, has been organised by Active Lincolnshires Partnership and Leisure in the Community for the whole family to enjoy.
The day will kick off at 10am with a British Cycling Skyride, a led bike ride of 19 miles for anyone up for the challenge. Families can sign up for free at www.goskyride.com/lincoln. For those wanting something a little gentler, there will also be a free Health Walk (of up to 3 miles) at 10am. Both these activities will be repeated at 2pm.
Dance performances and workshops will also take place throughout the day, as well as sports tasters including hockey, rugby, golf, American football, cheerleading, football and athletics.
Local sports clubs and dance groups will be showcasing themselves along with the Access LN6 team from Lincolnshire County Council.
Under 8s can swim for free, and adults can use the gym, steam room and sauna as well as have a health assessment from a personal trainer. There is free use of squash and badminton courts, as well as a free skate park, pod playbus and climbing wall (£2 per hour).
Families can have a go on the smoothie bike and get involved with bikeability, a programme which teaches children and adults the skills to bike safely in the community. The Access LN6 team from Lincolnshire County Council will also be on hand to talk about sustainable travel and families can even bring your bike for a check-up from Dr. Bike.
Sarah Clarke, Physical Activity Manager from Active Lincolnshires Partnership, said: “We are so pleased that so many local organisations have come together and helped with the planning of the day. We hope it will demonstrate how much is going on in the local area already. I would encourage all families to attend the event as it is set to be a great fun-filled for everyone!”
