Ladies in Lincoln are being invited to a new basketball coaching session next week.

Lincoln Lady Hoops, which starts on Tuesday 16th October, is for local ladies and girls aged over 15 who want the opportunity to play basketball in Lincoln.

Lucy Willets, Basketball Development Officer based at Active Lincolnshires Partnership, said: “These new basketball sessions are for women who want to meet new friends, get fit and have fun, whilst trying a new sport or getting back into something they used to enjoy.”

The sessions will be fun and informal and cost £2.00. No basketball kit is required – just wear comfortable sportswear and trainers.

Dave Piggott, the Basketball Coach, said: ”Even though there has been a basketball league in the county for many years, there have never been any opportunities for women to play, unless they enrolled at the university. In the last few years, and with the success at the Olympics, it seems interest in women’s basketball is growing. We want these sessions to be fun, but also competitive for those who want to play at a higher level. If we can capture enough interest and build a team, we hope to be playing in a league next year, which will be fantastic for basketball in Lincolnshire.”

The sessions will take place every Tuesday from 6.00 – 7.00pm at Christ’s Hospital School, Lincoln.

Just turn up on Tuesday 16th October or for more information and to register your interest, contact Lucy Willets on 01522 585580 or lucy.willets@lincolnshiresports.co.uk.
