BBC sports personality John Inverdale will host the Active Lincolnshires Awards 2012 next week at the Lincolnshire Events Centre.

After a summer of sport covering the Rowing and Athletics events at the London 2012 Olympic Games, as well as working with ITV as the main host for the 2012 French Tennis Open at Roland Garros and the BBC on their Wimbledon coverage, John returns to Lincolnshire to host the Sports Awards for the second time.

John said: “What a fantastic year to celebrate sport. There are so many inspiring people involved in sport throughout Lincolnshire and I’m looking forward to hearing their stories and meeting them in person. I always enjoy coming back to the county and I’m looking forward to hosting the Active Lincolnshires Awards once again.”

Marc Rhodes, Events Officer at Active Lincolnshires Partnership, said: “We are delighted to have John back in Lincolnshire to present the Active Lincolnshires Awards 2012. His connections to the London 2012 Olympic Games nationally, and his interest in Lincolnshire as a county made him the perfect candidate to recognise and celebrate Lincolnshire’s sporting achievements in 2012.”

The Active Lincolnshires Awards 2012 will take place on Thursday 8th November at the Lincolnshire Events Centre on the Lincolnshire Showground. 44 individuals, clubs and organisations have been nominated for 16 awards which will be presented on the evening and Olympic and Paralympic athletes from Lincolnshire will be at the event.

Tickets are available at £50pp which includes a 3-course meal, wine reception and entertainment. More than 300 people are expected at the awards ceremony.
