Girls are being encouraged to join a new squash session starting this month in Stamford.

Stamford Squash Club is offering group squash coaching for female participants from 14 to 24 years of age. The group sessions will be of mixed ability and cater for beginners through to more experienced individuals.

Managed by Sport England and delivered by Active Lincolnshire Partnership, Sportivate funds sport sessions to encourage teenagers to take part in sport.

Stamford Squash Club decided to use the funding to encourage more female participation in the sport.

Lucy Blakey, Children and Young People Officer at Active Lincolnshires Partnership, said: “This Sportivate project will encourage young people to take part in a sport they may not have tried before and hopefully encourage more girls to take part in squash.”

The one-hour coaching sessions will start on Friday 20th July from 7pm-8pm. They will be held at Stamford Squash Club and will be run by Club Coach Dan McGinn.  There will be 8 sessions with each session costing £1.

On Saturday 28th July from 1-5pm, Stamford Squash Club will be holding a Junior Match and Exhibition Match, giving people the opportunity to come along to the club and watch the sport and meet the coaches.
