Females are being encouraged to join a new football project in Lincoln.

In association with Active Lincolnshires Partnership, Nettleham Ladies FC is proud to announce a new football project called Sportivate Women and Girls’ Football.

Sportivate is a national programme, managed by Sport England and delivered by Active Lincolnshire Partnership, which funds six-week sport sessions to encourage teenagers to take part in sport.

The club wants female players, aged 14 – 25, to come along and join the new training sessions, no matter what level of ability.

Colin Edwards, who secured the funding for Nettleham Ladies FC, said: “Nettleham Ladies FC will offer exit routes for players to continually play football, no matter what ability or experience.”

It is the club’s aim to increase the number of teams it has and to be able to offer more players a chance to keep playing the sport.

Lucy Blakey, Children and Young People Officer at Active Lincolnshires Partnership, said: “This Sportivate project will encourage young girls to be more active and take part in a new sport. Long may these sessions continue after the initial Sportivate funding.”

The sessions will run every Thursday, starting on Thursday 28th June, from 7.00pm – 9.00pm at Croft Lane, Cherry Willingham, Lincoln, LN3 4JP. The cost is £1 per session. Please note, the session will be on a 3G pitch.
