SportivateA new Baseball project has been launched in Lincoln thanks to funding from Sportivate.

Managed by Sport England and delivered by Active Lincolnshire Partnership, Sportivate funds six-week sport sessions to encourage teenagers to take part in sport.

Beginning this month, The Showroom, on Tritton Road, has started offering baseball sessions to young people from 11 – 25 years old so that they can have a chance to try a new sport.

Ash Smith, Sports Development Officer at the Showroom, said: “Thanks to Sportivate funding we are now able to offer Baseball sessions. The Showroom lets you get involved in many sports and arts activities, chill out with friends, or get advice and support. We have Lincolnshire’s biggest climbing centre, mini-bowling, a diner, arcade games, interactive light wall/floor & sports cage.  The Showroom really is the place to be!”

The baseball sessions run during The Showroom’s youth nights. They are on a Tuesday from 6-8pm for those aged 11-14 or a Thursday for those over 14 years of age. There is a £1 charge for entry to the building on youth nights.

Lucy Blakey, Children and Young People Officer at Active Lincolnshires Partnership, said: “This Sportivate project will encourage young people to be more active and take part in a new sport. Long may these sessions continue after the initial Sportivate funding.”
