Lincoln Hockey Club has accessed funding from Sportivate to deliver their ‘Back in the “D” Hockey’ programme.

Sportivate is a national programme, managed by Sport England and delivered by Active Lincolnshire Partnership, which funds sport sessions to encourage teenagers to take part in sport.

The Back in the “D” Hockey programme has been designed to engage with people who are semi sporty and hopefully have an interest in playing hockey. The sessions are also designed for anyone who played when they were younger and would like to re-engage.

Club Secretary Paul Hamnett said: “The club currently has players from age 5 to 60, but is always looking for new players. The Sportivate funding has meant new members can enter these sessions without the potential intimidation of our existing hockey players and so make hockey even more accessible”.

The sessions will take place at North Kesteven Sports Centre, Moor Lane, North Hykeham, Lincoln, LN6 9AX starting on Thursday 5th July 2012 from 6pm to 7pm. The first 8 weeks are free of charge. It does not matter if you do not have a hockey stick as the club will be providing them to ensure people can come and engage with minimal financial commitment.

If you would like any more information, please contact Paul Hamnett on 07939 959392 or paul_hamnett@hotmail.co.uk or visit www.lincolnhockeyclub.co.uk or follow us @lincoln_hockey and we hope to see you at our first session.
