Sir Isaac Newton Primary School from Grantham won the Primary Schools Volleyball Level 3 School Games Competition in Grantham last week.
Five Volleyball teams from Sleaford, Grantham, Spalding and Market Rasen took part in the competition, with 20 athletes from Sir Isaac Newton Primary School, Church Lane Primary School, Ingoldsby Primary School, Pinchbeck East Primary School and Osgodby Primary School taking part.
Alex Mulligan, Junior Development Officer for Lincoln Cannons Volleyball Club, said: “Year on year primary school volleyball is becoming more popular and it was great to see the five schools competing at the county final. It was clear to see that schools had been working hard and improved over the course of the competition. The level of play was pleasing to watch.”
After an extremely competitive afternoon of volleyball competitions, Sir Isaac Newton Primary School emerged victorious in the Primary volleyball competition, with Pinchbeck East being awarded the Values Winners trophy.
Mark Sayle, School Games Organiser for South West School Sports Partnership, said: “It was a well set up and organised competition with everyone working together to make it a success. All levels and standards of play were supported and it has been a really positive day for Lincolnshire school sport.”
Level 3 School Games Competitions will be taking place across Lincolnshire in a variety of sports. The programme of events will culminate in a multi-sport festival at Lincoln Castle Academy, Yarborough Leisure Centre, Christ’s Hospital School and Lincoln College Sports Fields on Wednesday 27th June 2012.
