Sports clubs, leisure centres and sports organisations have two weeks to apply for Sportivate funding in Lincolnshire.
Sportivate is a national programme managed by Sport England and delivered through Active Lincolnshires Partnership. Since July 2011, over 116 projects have received over £80,000 funding, allowing clubs and organisations to offer sports sessions for children and young people across the county.
Projects are being encouraged to apply again for the next deadline for funding from July 2012, with particular focus on new projects which target minority groups such as women and girls and disability sport.
Lucy Blakey, Children and Young People’s Officer at Active Lincolnshires Partnership, said: “Nearly £400,000 is available for sports projects in Lincolnshire to encourage semi-sporty” teenagers and young adults to take part in sport. It’s a great opportunity to encourage young people to get involved in sport but also provides a huge financial incentive for sports clubs and others to deliver more sport across Lincolnshire.”
Sports clubs, schools, community groups, NGBs, local authorities, universities, youth clubs, 6th form and further educational colleges, leisure facilities and workplaces targeting 14 – 25 year olds can all apply for funding. Projects are asked to base their applications on £40 per head for six to eight sport sessions.
The next deadline to apply for block two of the second year funding (July to September 2012) is Friday 18th May 2012.
