Please note date change from Wednesday 13th to Wednesday 27th September
Updated to include content on Anti-radicalisation and Vulnerable Children and Adults.
The development of new guidance and scenarios is designed to counteract the latest threats to emerge that could impact on the physical or mental health of children in modern Britain.
The workshop ensures your coaches are equipped with the tools to recognise and respond appropriately to issues of safeguarding and child protection.
The workshop is a ‘Minimum Standard for Active Coaches’ requirement for many governing bodies of sport1. It constitutes part of the basic standards a coach needs to be able to carry out their role safely and effectively. It can also be delivered to all those responsible for organising children’s sport (eg within governing bodies of sport, local authorities, sports and leisure centres, and sports clubs) and those who lead or deliver children’s sport programmes (eg coaches, leaders, instructors, development officials, administrators, volunteers and parents), an estimated 76% of whom undertake these roles on a voluntary basis.
‘The “Safeguarding and Protecting Children” workshops and resource meet the key safeguarding learning needs of coaches and other sports staff and volunteers. The NSPCC and its Child Protection in Sport Unit fully support the new workshop and resources to help organisations and individuals to act to make sport the best it can be for current and future generations.’
Anne Tiivas, Director of the Child Protection in Sport Unit
Every child deserves to enjoy their sport. This workshop will raise your awareness of the tell tale signs of abuse, and give you the tools and confidence you need to deal with any issues sensitively, appropriately and effectively should the need ever arise in your coaching career. This course is often essential for all new and existing coaches and offers an excellent environment for discussion and learning. Though the course is for newcomers to Safeguarding and Protecting Children, this course can be used as a refresher for previous participants, however we do run Safeguarding and Protecting Children 2: Reflecting on good practice as a specific follow up for participants who have taken SPC 1 before. Contact email@example.com for further details on which workshop is right for you.
If you would like to book on for someone aged 16-18, please contact Active Lincolnshire first.
Newly updated to address the impact of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.
This courses is for all coaches/instructors/leaders and volunteers who run or lead sessions with under 18s or vulnerable adults.
