Gareth Short – School Games Project Officer

Gareth graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2005 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

Since graduating, he started his career working for Saracens Rugby Club as a Community Sports Coach delivering a variety of sporting activities to all ages and abilities across Hertfordshire. In 2006 whilst at Saracens Gareth went on to become a Community Development Officer co-ordinating structured programmes to be delivered in and across the school sports partnerships network. In 2008 he took on the role of Disability Officer with a specific focus of setting up a disability sports programmes working with and supporting special schools across the county.  Whilst in this role Gareth also volunteered my time to work with the Special Olympics as a sports coach.

In seek of new challenges, Gareth entered into the teaching profession and taught in secondary education as a PE teacher for two years. In this time he taught students from ages 11 – 18 in both theoretical and practical based subjects.

His Role at Active Lincolnshires Partnership as School Games Project Officer involves co-ordinating the Level 3 School Games competitions delivering a high quality events across Lincolnshire.

In his spare time Gareth enjoys a variety of sports in particular rugby both as a player and a coach. He also enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities such as snowboarding, walking and climbing.
